I have neither received a receipt nor checks have been encashed. My attorney has not received any july 2nd filed cases receipts. Its a pretty big law firm.

A new poll from Benenson Strategy Group (commissioned by America's Voice), has a surprising finding - the vast majority of self-identified GOP voters support immigration reform. USCIS has not extended its temporary accommodation for delays in the labor condition application (LCA) process. Earlier, USCIS agreed to accept H-1B petitions without a certified LCA, in certain situations, for a limited time. This exception was available from November 5, 2009 to March 9, 2010. The USCIS has declined to extend this exception. Accordingly, all H-1B petitions must be filed with the certified LCA otherwise USCIS will deny the H-1B petition or extension.
Hence, it again is necessary to have an Approved LCA in place for the proper location at the time of the H-1B filing. The reason the exception was not extended is that the DOL assured USCIS that LCAs are being processed within the required seven-day processing time. The DOL, in fact, stated that LCAs are being processed within four to five days which is in fact true as well. It is our suggestion to plan accordingly.

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus has sent a letter to the President asking him to terminate the controversial 287(g) program that allows local police to enforce immigration laws on behalf of the Department of Homeland Security. The CHC expressed its concerns about allegations of serious civil rights violations against Hispanics as well as recent reports of poor oversight in the program. The National Council of La Raza, the country's largest Latino civil rights organization praised the letter.

USCIS posted processing time as of Aug 31 2009.

They also updated information on their site about backlog.
USCIS: National Processing Volumes and Trends (http://dashboard.uscis.gov/) .
Backlog for I 485 pre adjudicated application went up by 20k. USCIS has mentioned few times that they will pre adjudicate all cases by Oct 2009. So we may see increase in those number till Oct 2009 posting. After that we will see reduction. How much reduction.. No one can guess. But definitely EB2 will not get more than 25k per year so it will be easily 5 years to clear all backlog for Eb2. Number may go up because of Eb3 - Eb2 porting after one year when they get their labor approved.

Hello, I am following along on the advanced tutorial for data binding with XML, and I am using Blend 3, I know the tutorial uses Blend 2. I was hoping you could help me find the "define data templates" equivalent option that is not present in Blend 3, for the step that modifies what elements from the xml data source are displayed in the listbox.

My wife received Appt. letter for FP second time. It mentioned that first time FP didn't pass thru FBI check, se she need to come again at no cost. Is this normal and did it happen to any one? We are in Atlanta.

Sorry for the cross posting.
My papers were sent on June 21st, but they were receipted only on June 27th. Turns out USCIS returned my $1000 for premium processing :(.
My lawyer said they talked to USCIS and USCIS asked them to re-file with proof of receipt.
Did anyone who filed in end June have their 140 premium processing returned?

My aunt (father�s sister) is separated (not divorced) from her husband for over 17 years now. She and her 24 year old son (who was 7 years old when his parents separated) live with our family for last 17 years. Her application for visitor visa was rejected in year 2003 when I had invited her to attend my graduation ceremony. At that time I had not sent a sponsor letter. I have invited her to visit me again and this time I am sponsoring for her visit. She owns a house in India and her son owns a business.
Would her marital status (separated but not divorced) create any issues during the interview?
