Here are some facts:
My I-140 was approved in April 2007 and I-485 was filed in August 2007. My H-1B expired on October 14, 2010 and my employer filed (using an attorney) for an extension last month. I have original H-1B filing receipt and copy for I-485 with me. I also had EAD which was scheduled to expire on October 15, 2010 and I filed myself for renewal of EAD and AP.
I lost my driving license with my wallet yesterday.
I checked NJ DMV website and in their 6 point ID verification they accept EAD and valid I-94 (which comes with H-1B approval, but I don't have either on me right now). Does anyone know what is the process in NJ. Do they accept filing receipts as valid document?
Without license I can't drive and go to work.
Any recent experience? I would really appreciate an answer.

Well that's hard to find because in India even villages have better communication system these days. They all use cell phones since govt could not provide land lines. Internet is definitely all over the place.

It's hard to believe that folks dont know anything about the Green-Card process when they come in. Let us say that you are right on, but they would have eventually figured it out by the end of couple years. I believe it is the situations like layoffs, move from one company to other for better prospects and salary will make them to enter the process late. It is their personal choice and I don't question that. But I believe they had options to apply for GC early in the process and they did not. So why penalize others who did before them. Please don't think Iam saying this because I entered late. I came during early 1998 and I did wait for 4 years to apply.
Many of the H1B's are so involved in their work , they really donot follow their green card procedure and pressure their employers for better deal on filing their papers even when they have the chance.
New H1B's coming into the country should be given some guidance on the permanent residency process so that they donot end up like many of us in the forum waiting for years to get their residency.

However we are falling short of the $2000 target for today. Will we make it, or will we let ourselves down?
Remember everyone BUT us immigrants wants us to fail. The anti-immigrants are WELL funded lobby. They ask for help from their members and they get a TON of it. All we ask on IV's behalf is $5.00 for now.

Folks,
Anyone having experience renewing DL in Ohio after filing for I-485? Do they issue DL for 4 yrs? Or do we need to apply for EAD (if H1B is expiring and company is not willing to apply for H1 extension) and DL will be issued till the expiry of EAD?

Why don't you listen to others on this forum? No one is out to screw H-1s and/or GC aspirants as far as the rebate is concerned. Read the previous post by gg10004. The law is not differentiating between a H1 and GC aspirant or a US citizen if none of them have a valid SSN. It is just unfortunate that H4s do not get SSNs. So stop getting paranoid.
Moreover, your response that your title "No Stimulus Package to H1's and GC Aspirants - Again We Loose 1200$" is justified because titles are not for stories or whatever makes you look like an utter idiot. Titles are for accurately reflecting the gist of the thread. If you have an issue with adding 5 more words to reflect the reality, then add only one word: "No Stimulus Package to SOME H1's and GC Aspirants - Again We Loose 1200$".

My attorney applied my Labor in Nov 2006 (according to him) in Atlanta and I still don�t have any response �no audit �.nothing �.it is just in process�can u believe it?

You can ask your lawyer to send an email. I have read some cases in IV where after 90 days if the lawyer/employer sends ane email they respond with the status . why dont you try that?

Hope after 5 long years , my GC ambition will be completed this time. All the best for rest of the folks!!!

My case was wrongly put in the TR catagory for 2 years despite my efforts to get the Phili center to correct it. It was finally put into RIR in April 2007 while other cases are being approved with later PDs...... Maybe I shall wait 3 more months since they promissed to have it done this September????!!!!

Talk to your local Sears/Macys/Food4Less/etc/Indian Groceries / Deals2buy.com to collaborate in purchasing the coupons so that people can go get the coupons and present it to the respective stores. In the process say get a portion of it being contributed to IV. Work out some percentage model in which case it would be easier for people to contribute that extra amount instead of separately pulling out their card (people are lethargic to do this) and contributing to the google check out fund drive. Of course the other one is just another supplement of getting funds

Hey make sure that I am right by talking to an attorney. They usually charge $150 for for this suggestion. Please spend that money. If you do not have that money, I will give you a loan. Pay me back once you start working.

I bought a home recently in PA. All I showed are I485 receipt, expired visa on passport,employment and other proof of income . They never asked me the EAD. Loan is through BOA. Most of the immigrants maintain good credit scores so there is good chance of getting loans approved.

i just returned from an infopass meeting... the guy i talked to said that they recently have a directive from the DHS/USCIS that they want to separate the legal stuff from the illegal stuff and hence they are planning to adjudicate a record number of EB apps in the next quarter or two... does anyone else concur? is this true or were my ears just ringing in that meeting?

Well, I had a Infopass last week to check on a Soft LUD on my I-140, I heard slightly different story, they did not say adjudicating the EB application, but Process the EB application, which I guess what they were saying is pre-adjudicating the cases, in the last few weeks with lot of cases being transferred (both EB2/EB3) to different offices, pre-adjudicating the cases makes sense....but hey, we are talking about USCIS here, we never know, whatever you heard could be true too......
