I don't think it's possible, or people will all file to Chicago. There is one thing you can do though, which is to write to Atlanta center and express your concerns. Probably also write to the higher officials to the Department of Labor. I believe the more people write to them, the more chances they will look at it seriously.

I have wrote to the office of DOL secretary, Elaine Chao, to express my concern and that the deplay could mean seriously delay for us, who live and work in the country legally, pay taxes and fees, to file for green card application. I suggest you all to do this.

I agree. Email and call below dol personnnel as well.

We are fighting against anti-immigrant idiots like you.
Greencard is our right because we have been waiting long enough and paid a lot for it, and we will not just take greencard but also get our citizenship. After getting citizenship we will make our pro-immigrant senators win election and help defeat anti-immigrant Senators. We will contribute money in getting pro-immigrant lawmakers get elected. Got it ?
We will also tackle idiot old good for nothing racist programmers like you and make sure you remain losers in life.
So its the 6 th fundamental right. I am amazed how people confuse rights with privilege.

This is not a free market for labour. This is no kind of freedom, let's call it what it is, it is indentured servitude.

I agree with you. In order to achieve something, you have to give up something. Either it's the money, labor, time and effort. I sense that apart from very few , rest would like the fruits of labor without any type of contribution and effort. It would take herculean effort to change everyone's attitude. I hope Gandhiji will lend us an invisible hand in our struggle.

    Guys,

What Mr. Charles Oppenheim is doing is trying to build a Consensus to create a legislative relief.

So, they want us to create an awareness and buyin from decision Makers.

"Therefore, without legislative relief, the waiting time for Indian EB2 applicants may be measured in years, even decades."

I agree. This was always there and it is only now that the government has acknowledged it. Mr. Oppenheim has given us ammunition to build our case and we must use it wisely.

Maybe we can have a have a "send fax" feature on IV from where we can quote Mr. Oppenheim's statement to send a fax to our senators. Also, it is high time that IV is a paid site even if it is $1 per month or 1 cents a day i.e. $3 per month. As I suggested in the past, new members/ visitors should be allowed to read the forums but to post a question or reply to a question one should be a paid member. I am confident that even with $1/month of 1 cent/day we will do better collections that we are doing now.

For all those who have sent PM.... Please note I am not an attorney or accountant... But then I had consulted my account and few attorney's ( paid the required fees to get them answered)... So please use your own judgement/caution.

    1. Yes you can open a LLC singly or jointly with your wife/friend/anyone.

    2. You can start the LLC even when you are on H1B but it is better that you wait till you get your EAD to get oprationalized. reason very very conservative view is that you cannot even write a check for your company or deposit a check... but this is a very conservative view....

    3. To open a LLC you can use an accountant ( if you have one, it will be cheaper by a couple of hundred dollars) or use agencies like www.legalzoom.com/legalzip/LLCs/llc_procedure.html .... I have used both in the past....

    4. Intially you can just form LLC as single or joint partnership and then elect as S corporations for taxing.... I forget within which period it is to be done, if I correctly remember when you file your first tax return or within 6 months you need to elect as filing as single person entity( then it becomes like your personal income) or you could elect as S corp....

    5. You will a tax id for the LLC, business license and other documents when you form a LLC, You will need to maintain book and tax records for 3 years... best to have it managed by an accountant

    6. You/ your spouse can work for your LLC.... Some of you if you want to after 180 days change employers can move into your LLC and maintain that you are employed in same occupational duties for your own LLC...

Hope I have been able to answer your questions....

Thanks for sharing that with us. I'm sure IV will become a platform for aspiring entrepreneur in the long run.

Not everybody on this forum earns 144,000 a year. What world are you living in my friend? Do you not get out that often?

    I agree.

Many of the military families affected only earn $25,000. I find it repugnant when
someone shows how little he cares about his fellow human beings.

Yes, it does. So it's a vertical orientation and says "temporary visitor status expires mm/dd/yyyy" in red.

It would be really interesting to get that law quote, as it might effectively make it impossible to get contract jobs with terms shorter than 12 months (actually even 13 months to be realistic).
